Pre-Requisite Courses
Foundations of Rolfing Structural Integration (FORSI)

Accelerated Foundations of Rolfing Structural Integration (AFORSI)
We hope that you will find the application process for our prerequisite courses
simple and easy to follow. If you need help or have questions about the requirements,
or any aspect of the admissions process, please feel free to contact the training

To be considered for admission into Unit I (FORSI) or Accelerated Unit I (AFORSI) you
must submit the following:
- Application form
- Life experience essay
- Academic record
- Resume
- Photographs
- A signed copy of the enrollment agreement
- Your deposit
All students applying for Unit I (FORSI) or Accelerated Unit I (AFORSI) are accepted
on a first come, first serve basis.
Once we receive your completed application package, we review your application.
All applications are reviewed in the order they are received. Processing your application
usually takes about one week. You will be notified by e-mail of your status. Once
you are accepted, we send you detailed information about the class including homework,
a book list and our housing referral list.

Step 1: Application form

Step 2: Life Experience Essay
Because students have a variety of educational backgrounds, personal interests and
experience, we require prospective students to write a personal life experience
essay.
Please submit a 2-3 page personal essay answering the following questions. The essay
should be double-spaced and typed.
- Please discuss your interest in Rolfing and the Rolfing training.
- What factors have made you consider this field as a profession?
- What makes you feel that this is the appropriate time in your life to
do the training?
- Share some examples of things you have accomplished that demonstrate your ability
to work independently or complete a task or a course of study.
Step 3: Academic record
Please provide documented proof of your academic background, prior education or
training.
Accelerated Unit I (AFORSI) applicants only
To be eligible for Accelerated Unit I (AFORSI), students must document completion of
professional training or course work in massage and bodywork of at least 250 hours.
Students must submit an official transcript that shows:
- 47 hours of Anatomy, 21 hours of Physiology, 45 hours of massage or other approved
touch training, 15 hours of therapeutic relationship or ethics.
- Documented clinical practice experience 50 documented hours of postgraduate massage
practice, experience or comparable clinical practice hours.
Step 4: Resume
Briefly outline your educational and employment history. You may include massage
training from other trainings, workshops, and vocations, as well as any Rolfing
history.
Please note: Foundations of Rolfing Structural Integration (FORSI) Students are
not required to have had any experience or history with bodywork, massage or Rolfing,
but if you do, please include it in your resume. Accelerated Unit I (AFORSI) students
are required to have prior training in manual therapy, massage or bodywork.
Step 5: Photographs
Please submit two photographs of yourself for identity purposes.
Step 6: Enrollment Agreement

Sign it and return with your application and deposit.
Step 7: Deposit
A deposit of R6 250 (Unit 1-FORSI) or R2 250 (Accelerated Unit 1- AFORSI) is required
to confirm your space in the class. The South African Rolfing Association (SARA)
accepts cheques, internet transfers, bank deposits or cash (in person only).
